The LASA, was founded in 1963 by a consortium of industrial, university, ministry and research council representatives – a breadth of interest which is still typical of the LASA membership today. LA science seeks to ensure the provision and best use of the most appropriate scientific models – including derived materials such as organs, tissues and cellular components – for medical, veterinary and other scientific purposes.

Each fall since 1950, the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science has held its annual National Meeting. During the five days of the meeting, members and nonmembers come together to enjoy the workshops, lectures, poster sessions, and exhibits. The program is designed to have topics relevant to the entire membership. Exhibitors have an opportunity to interact with AALAS members from the academic community, research institutions, government organizations, and commercial companies. The AALAS National Meeting is the largest gathering in the world of professionals concerned with the production, care, and use of laboratory animals.

The foundation of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology occurred in 2002, the full Recognition by the EBVS in 2007. The College addresses the need for well educated clinical pathologists with certified experience for leading positions in commercial laboratories, industry, and veterinary schools.

In 2017, the 19th annual ESVCP/ECVCP congress took place in London, welcoming anyone with a clinical pathology interest to join.

In 2018, reaching its 20th edition, the Annual ESVCP/ECVCP congress will be hosted in Athens, Greece!
